One
of the most exciting cellists of his generation, he has
distinguished himself by winning coveted prizes in many
important international competitions. The 1991 CIEM
competition in Geneva, the 1991 Premio Stradivari in Cremona,
the 1990 Rostropovich Cello competition in Paris, the 1989
Whitaker competition in St. Louis, and the 1986 Maria Canals
competition in Barcelona.
Mr.
Zori made
his debut with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the
baton of
Zubin Mehta in
1984. Since then, he has performed with Israelis major
orchestras under the batons of Mendi Rodan and Cristian
Mandeal among others, as well as with the Slovenjian RTV
Symphony, the Rheinische Philharmonie and the D?sseldorf
Symphony at the European gala concert for the 3000th
Anniversary of Jerusalem.
As a frequent recitalist and chamber musician,
Hillel Zori has
toured the USA, Europe and The Far East. He also performed at
the Athens, Israel, Graz, Kfar Blum, Tanglewood, Marlboro,
and Italy-Rovereto festivals and colaborated with artists
such as
David Soyer, Michae1 Tree, Atar Arad, Pnina
Salzmann,
and
Marissa Tanzini.
Born in 1966 in Tel Aviv,
Hillel Zori studied
with Uzi Wiesel at the Tel-Aviv Rubin Academy and with
Bernard Greenhouse in the United States.
Hillel
Zori enjoys
a wide reputation as one of Israel's top teachers. He is a
senior faculty member at the Israel Rubin Music Academy
-Te1-Aviv University, and has given master-classes in Israel,
Europe, and China.
